(Apple Valley) – On Wednesday, August 17, 2016, California State Board of Equalization (BOE) Member George Runner will host a free Apple Valley Tax Seminar for Nonprofit and Exempt Organizations to provide information about state tax laws specific to nonprofits.
Assemblyman Jay Obernolte, San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert A. Lovingood, San Bernardino County Assessor Bob Dutton, the Town of Apple Valley, the Apple Valley Chamber of Commerce, and the Academy for Grassroots Organizations are co-sponsoring this event. Local nonprofit leaders are encouraged to attend, learn ways to avoid tax problems, and identify tax benefits.
Representatives from the BOE, Employment Development Department, Franchise Tax Board, Office of the Attorney General, and the Academy for Grassroots Organizations will give presentations on sales and use tax, employee taxes, compliance for exempt organizations, property tax exemptions, regulation of charities, and local resources for nonprofits.
“As the founder of a nonprofit, I understand how complicated and confusing California’s tax laws can be,” said Board Member Runner. “The goal of this seminar is to help nonprofits avoid common tax traps so that they can be successful.”
