Update on the Pilot Fire

(Hesperia)– Good news was shared by the incident unified command post, informing us that 64% containment has been achieved with 1,746 personnel assigned to the incident. The fire is now at 7,861 acres.

Schools in Oro Grande and Hesperia will reopen on Thursday.

EVACUATIONS FOR HESPERIA REMAIN VOLUNTARY FOR:
o Areas east of the Mojave River and south of Rock Springs Road to Kiowa Road

o Areas east of Santa Fe Road, south of Ranchero Road to Arrowhead Lake Road and north of the Spillway have been reduced to a voluntary evacuation

ROAD CLOSURES:

• Highway 173 between Highway 138 and Arrowhead Lake Road (Hesperia)

• Arrowhead Lake Road at Ranchero Road (Hesperia)

• Highway 173 at North Bay Road (Lake Arrowhead)

• Grass Valley Road at Brentwood Drive (Deer Lodge Park)

• Forest Service Roads 2N33, 2N17X, 2N36, 2N37

• Miller Canyon OHV Area remains closed

• Soft Closure: (Residents Only with Identification) Rock Springs at Deep Creek Road

The American Red Cross is operating a shelter at Oak Hills High School. Crated house-hold pets can be left outside the shelter but will not be admitted inside.
