Victor Valley College to Host 9/11 Patriot Day Ceremony This Sunday

(Victorville)– Victor Valley College will be holding a Patriot Day Ceremony on Sunday, September 11th in remembrance of the men and women who answered their last call on the tragic day of September 11th, 2001, as well as recognize those who serve our communities today on a daily basis.

The public is invited to attend and be a part of this tribute with VVC’s student leaders in honoring these fallen heroes.

The ceremony will begin promptly at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, and will take place at the “United We Stand” Monument, which is located in front of the campus library. Students from a variety of VVC’s programs will be in attendance, including students from the following programs: Nursing, Fire Academy, Paramedic Academy, STC Corrections Academy, POST Basic Law Enforcement Academy, and the VVC College Singers.

The “United We Stand” monument, which was designed by VVC student Joan Sowinski, was dedicated on Monday, September 11, 2006. Five years earlier Dr. Prem Reddy, Chairman of the Board of Desert Valley Hospital, had the idea of United We Stand to raise funds to build a memorial to help pull the community back together.
