(Victorville)– The City of Victorville is again organizing a City-Wide Community Cleanup Day to be held on Saturday, Oct. 22.  The City is now seeking sponsors and volunteers for this event.

Sponsors are listed on the event t-shirt worn by hundreds of volunteers during the Clean Up.  Sponsors are also listed on all event fliers, posters, and advertisements.  Businesses interested in sponsoring the event should contact the City of Victorville Environmental Programs Division at 760-955-8615.

Victorville’s Community Cleanup Day is open to all High Desert residents.  Individuals and businesses are encouraged to join with friends, family, and community groups to create teams to participate.  Volunteers receive a free t-shirt and discount coupons for lunch at more than a dozen participating Victorville restaurants.

Those interested in volunteering should complete a mandatory, volunteer registration/waiver form and submit it to the City of Victorville Environmental Programs Division by Oct. 3 to receive a t-shirt.  The registration/waiver form is available online at the City of Victorville website at www.victorvilleca.gov  (Quick Link:  Community Cleanup) and available for pick up  at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Drive.  City Hall is open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Victorville Community Cleanup Day is a semi-annual event held each April and October.  The first cleanup was held in October 2007.  Since then, more than 10,500 volunteers have worked together to collect over 146 tons of litter from Victorville roadsides.  Last April, more than 650 people volunteered collecting five tons of litter from 33 different sites around the City.
