Strengthening D.A.’s Cold Case Unit, Enhancing Security

(Victor Valley)– The new County budget is adding two extra-help District Attorney Senior Investigators to assist with the workload of the District Attorney’s Cold Case Prosecution Unit. The budget includes funding to replace two aging and obsolete Sheriff’s patrol helicopters as well as for guns, ammunition and body armor for the Sheriff’s Training Academy to expand response capabilities and upgrade the current body armor.

In the wake of the Dec. 2 terror attack, the Board of Supervisors approved $8.2 million in immediate improvements to county facilities, such as expanded security guard services, upgraded security cameras and key card access installations plus $2 million to conduct a security assessment of all county facilities.
