(Victorville)—As Election Day draws near, Victorville Elementary School District (VESD) Board Trustee Joyce Chamberlain looks to continue to serve the school board as a member of the prestigious Board of Trustees.
Mrs. Chamberlain brings over twenty years of educational experience to the board. As a school counselor and former federal Department of Education director, and as someone who has worked with hundreds of students daily, she brings an essential perspective to the board. Her vision mirrors that of VESD, which is to “prepare students to be able to select from a variety of career opportunities to be successful in the world of work.” One way to implement this vision is to help students develop programs that promote lifelong learners. She earned a BA from the University of Oklahoma and earned two master’s degrees, one in education and the other in counseling/psychology. She has been a counselor in all stages of a student’s academic life, from elementary through college. Joyce has worked with at-risk and ELL students, parents, teachers, administrators and the community. Mrs. Chamberlain helped established the local counseling program for Options for Youth Charter School. She also has been a counselor with the K-12 Bridge Program, a program designed to engage students in the process of planning for their future. She loves everything about educating young people and helping them equip themselves for a bright future.
Mrs. Chamberlain and her husband Mike have five children and six grandchildren, whom have been or are currently students of VESD. Joyce also holds a real estate license and works with her husband, who is also a realtor, at Crown Realty Services. Mrs. Chamberlain appreciates the support from the voters and is excited to continue her role as a trustee on the VESD school board.
