(Adelanto)— Adelanto residents should use the month of November to get some rest, because there is a jam-packed schedule of activities planned for the month of December.
The city will launch its first annual “Christmas Decorating Contest” to find the best decorated homes. This contest, set for December 9 & 10 is open to all residents of Adelanto who will compete for a grand prize of $500.00 and their name entered on a perpetual trophy; the winner from several categories will be awarded $150.00 and a certificate. Those selected for honorable mention will receive $30 each. The prize winners will be decided by December 12 and all winners will be posted on the City’s Official Website.
The 12th Annual Christmas Parade will kick-off December 10 at 10 a.m. at Seneca and Aster Roads and ending at Desert Trails Elementary School on Bellflower. Congressman Paul Cook will serve as Grand Marshal.
The last activity before the Christmas break will be the grand opening of the Pryke Dog Park inside of Richardson Park at City Hall on December 17 from 9:00 a.m. until 12 noon. A community barbeque will take place along with a community resource fair.
These community activities are taking place early because City Hall and city services will be closed except for emergencies from December 19 through January 3, 2017.
