(Barstow)– From October 1 – 31, 2016 Outlets at Barstow partnered with 11 local non-profit organizations to help raise funds for various causes benefiting Barstow residents. Outlets at Barstow created a ‘25% Off One Item’ voucher, redeemable at participating stores, which charities then sold for $1 each. One hundred percent of the proceeds went directly back to the non-profit organization.

Partnering organizations included: American Cancer Society/Barstow Relay for Life, Barstow Soccer Club, Barstow Women’s Club, Boys and Girls Club of Barstow, Desert Sanctuary, Dignity Station, Greater Hope Foundation, High Desert Phoenix Foundation, On the Rise, American Legion Post 324, Salvation Army Barstow.   In total, the month-long campaign generated approximately $6,000.

In addition to voucher sales, ‘Shop for a Cause’ organizations were invited to participate in on-site events throughout the month of October including the ‘Cruise for the Cure’ Car Show and the first-ever ‘Boo! at the Outlets’ Trick-or-Treat night on Halloween. The 21st Annual ‘Cruise for the Cure’ Car Show, co-hosted by the Apple Valley Over-the-Hill Gang, raised $6,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The 2016 event welcomed 104 entrants for a fun-filled day of opportunity drawings, fun games and live music.

Proceeds raised during the Outlets at Barstow charity month were awarded to each non-profit group at the ‘Shop for a Cause’ check presentation ceremony held on December 19, at Outlets at Barstow.
