(Victor Valley)– Ninjak is arguably the deadliest person in the Valiant Universe. The trained weapons specialist employed by MI-6 has been a fan favorite for years. With this issue, we get something special: not only is it the prologue for the next story arc, The Seven Blades of Master Darque, but it is also a portrayal of the truest form of sequential art. This issue is the silent issue, and you need to check this out.
Written by Matt Kindt with art by Cafu, the issue takes Ninjak to Las Vegas, as he invades a guarded temple that houses one of his greatest threats: the deadly, crimson haired Roku. Roku is not just a killer, but has ties directly to Ninjak and the man under the mask, Colin King. This silent issue has just a few words towards the end, and is silent for a reason. When sneaking into a heavily guarded facility, its best for Ninjak to utilize the spy skills he is known for.
The plotted issue by Kindt with Cafu on art is perfectly done. No dialogue is needed, as the sequential art displayed panel to panel is perfect in telling the story. This is one of the most unique and well done pieces of comic book art I have seen in quite some time, as it shows the strength of two great storytellers. Even if you haven’t been reading Ninjak, I recommend picking up this issue: it’s something you need to read to experience.
