(Victor Valley)– With the second issue of Divinity III, we see more of the Stalinverse, and see that Ninjak is not alone as knowing that something isn’t quite right in this red hued world.
From writer Matt Kindt and artist Trevor Hairsine, the second issue of the four issue series puts Ninjak face to face with the unkillable monster, Bloodshot. Why? Because it is believed that the secrets to how this version of the world came to be are locked up inside Bloodshot’s head. We also get one heck of a “OMG” moment when we see who the other person is that knows that this world isn’t how it should be: that person being the incredibly powerful psiot Toyo Harada. Such a shocking twist, and a twist that puts the unlikely team up on course to help fallen “hero” Divinity, the original one. We also see who is pulling the strings in this universe, and it isn’t the cosmonaut we all thought.
Kindt and Hairsine are crafting something special with each of the Divinity mini series, and with Stalinverse, the stakes couldn’t be higher. This issue furthers the story along, introducing key players like Harada and the big bad of the series, and does so masterfully. I have yet to read an issue of Divinity that I didn’t like: in fact, Stalinverse is on track to becoming my favorite of the Divinity library thus far. I can’t recommend this series enough: this series, as well as the multiple one shots tied directly to the Stalinverse. If you haven’t given Valiant a shot yet, this is the series that should draw you in, comrade.
