(Victorville)– A benefit for local resident and musician Thomas A, as he is known to his friends will be held on Thursday, April 6, 6:30pm – 9:30pm at the Holiday Inn in Victorville.
The live music open jam will be held in support of and to help defer medical costs for the talented, loved and friend to all, Mr. Thomas Atkinson of Hesperia. The event will be hosted by guest emcee and lifelong friend Coleen Quinn, “The Mighty Quinn” of Y102fm Morning Show.
In an article from the National Endowment of the Arts 50th Anniversary Archives Thomas is noted as being a musician, NEA Grantee, lecturer and a full-time multiple subject teacher for most of his career with emphasis education for at-risk youth involving them in alternative learning opportunities such as freestyle drumming circles.
Accomplished percussionist and mentor, his involvement with disadvantaged youth through non-profit organizations, displays the joy of performing, meditation, and music therapy. Family, friends and community are coming together in support after a recent medical diagnosis of bladder cancer to help defer costs, give back and display the healing art of music and love.
The fundraising event is open to the public and all musicians and is $15 at the door with prize tickets will also be available for purchase to help raise funds. Live music will be provided by host band Coast 2 Coast, featuring Jarvy Dabbs/Guitar, John Currin/Bass and Gary Whitesides/Drums.
