(Victor Valley)– Investing resources to continue making San Bernardino County one of the safest counties in the entire state remains a top priority.
Due to a series of misguided policies from Sacramento, the door is being left open to release more criminals from state prison to our streets. San Bernardino County has no choice but to take on greater responsibility in keeping criminals locked up. Our response is to advocate for increases to both the Sheriff’s and District Attorney’s budgets. Previous allocations of special funds for the Sheriff’s “Desert Guardian” crime sweeps led to more than 1,100 arrests. And we’ve supported the addition of 25 Deputy Sheriffs to unincorporated areas. This, along with our goal to increase staffing for the Sheriff’s patrol operational needs, means more deputies on the streets.
Moving forward with the phased staffing plan for the High Desert Detention Center would also provide more space to lock up criminals. It is all the more important that we adopt pro-growth, pro-business policies to free our economy and grow revenues, allowing us to make the right investments to help make San Bernardino County safe.
