(Apple Valley)– In an environment as hectic as a municipal animal shelter, it is important to have staff that can handle a variety of responsibilities skillfully and efficiently. The Town of Apple Valley has named Adriana Atteberry its newest Employee of the Quarter for fitting this description perfectly.
As the animal shelter’s administrative secretary, Atteberry monitors all the incoming animals for the County of San Bernardino, completing the monthly statistical reports for both agencies and handling all billing related to the Town’s Animal Services Agreement with the county.
Her co-workers laud her attention to detail and praise that attribute for her ability to prepare budget hearing documents accurately and submit invoicing in a timely and organized fashion.
“Her professional approach and attention to detail are significant factors in collecting revenues for services provided by the department,” said her supervisor, Director of Animal Services Gina Whiteside. “She works diligently to ensure our department demonstrates commitment to providing A Better Way of Life for the animals we serve.”
In addition to these duties, Atteberry helps coordinate signature fundraising events hosted by Animal Services such as the Furball, an annual, themed fundraising dinner, and the Paws N’ Claws Pet Fair that attracts thousands of visitors to Apple Valley annually.
Atteberry, who has worked for the Town of Apple Valley for nearly 11 years, started out as a part time typist in Animal Control. Her role was expanded quickly as her skill set became apparent and was promoted to full-time Animal Control Technician in 2007. She was promoted to her current position in September 2015.
“I feel it is my responsibility to provide the best customer service to Apple Valley residents and neighbors who need our services,” said Atteberry. “It is equally important to me that the four-legged residents get the care they need while in our shelter.”
Atteberry was honored at the June 13 Town Council meeting. Nominations for Employee of the Quarter are submitted by peers or management and honorees are selected by a committee.
