(Victor Valley)– The Victor Valley Community College District Board of Trustees will hold a public meeting on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at 6 p.m., during which time a public hearing will be held to accept comments regarding the District’s Resolution of Intention related to establishment of trustee areas for the election of governing board members.
The Board of Trustees’ meeting will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Boardroom located in Building 10 at Victor Valley College, 18422 Bear Valley Road, Victorville, California 92395. The public hearing will commence at approximately 6:30 p.m.
Currently, members of the Board of Trustees of the Victor Valley College District are elected in “at-large” elections, in which each governing board member is elected by the registered voters of the entire school district. The Education Code provides for “trustee-area voting” or elections in which one or more members residing in each area is elected by the registered voters of that particular area.
Our public “community” input is valued and necessary for successful redistricting of the areas served by Victor Valley College. This hearing is an opportunity for community involvement. Members of the public are encouraged to participate in this important civic process.
Earlier on November 14, 2017 at 5 p.m. the Victor Valley Community College District Board of Trustees will be engaged in an open study session. This open study session is open to the public. There will be discussion on the redistricting process, how to determine potential alternative redistricting options and possibly the demographic study of voter trends which indicate the need for redistricting.
