(Victorville)– Today, the City of Victorville announced plans to recruit a fire chief to lead its new city fire department. Applications will be available Jan. 23 on the City’s website at www.victorvilleca.gov; and the first application review will take place Feb. 6.
On Jan. 16, the Victorville City Council authorized the establishment of a new city fire department. Victorville is transitioning from contract fire services provided by San Bernardino County Fire to a city-run fire department. The transition is expected to be complete in November or December 2018.
Over the course of the next 12 months, the City will recruit 69 fire professionals to join the Victorville City Fire Department at all levels of the organization including administration, emergency operations, fire prevention and support staff. On Feb. 6, the City will launch its recruitment for one division chief and three battalion chiefs. These positions will remain open until filled with application review taking place weekly.
