Comic Book Review: Ninjak Vs The Valiant Universe #1

By Nolan P. Smith

Staff Reporter

(Victor Valley)– When Valiant Entertainment announced the live action, digital series Ninjak Vs The Valiant Universe, I was beyond hyped. To see the Valiant heroes brought to life would be amazing, and this year, it’s happening. But before that happens, Valiant has released a mini series based on the epic crossover, and if the series follows suite to this first issue, then the bar is about to be raised extremely high for live action superheroics.

From writer Eliot Rahal and artist Joe Bennett, we get an introduction issue that sets an explosive stage. Ninjak, the super deadly intelligence specialist working with MI-6, gets roped into stealing an unknown asset by the villainous Roku, one that sets him on a collision course with Livewire and the big guns of the Valiant U. At the end of the issue, we see how most of these Valiant mainstays get pulled into the story, save for Shadowman.

Rahal crafts an excellent jumping on point here, one that doesn’t bog the reader down with history. We get a fast paced, thrilled issue with some shocking moments as we see Ninjak does what he does best- win. Bennet’s art looks amazing, as he has always been one of my favorite artists. Ninjak, Livewire, Roku and company have never looked better, but what else would you expect? The digital series is poised to turn the cinematic world of superheroes upside down. Pick this book up, and get ready for the digital revolution, courtesy of Valiant.
