(Victor Valley)– I am a little late to the game when it comes to virtual reality. After finally obtaining a PS VR, the first full game I tried was The Solus Project from Grip Digital.
What’s the game about? Here’s the official synopsis:
It is the year 2183. Earth is dying and mankind’s last hope just crash-landed on an uncharted planet. Without resources, without help, without hope – you’ll have to look for supplies, map the surrounding areas, look after your health and explore the planet in an attempt to find a way to send a signal back home.
Sounds intriguing? You’re right, it is. The survival horror title thrusts you into an unknown world with no food, water or means to survive, save for your wits. There isn’t even a tutorial or map system, but to me, this works in favor of the game’s ambiance. The world itself is extremely unsettling and yet amazing at the same time. You wonder this land, aimlessly at times, looking for clues to what happened here, and why it looks so abandoned. In the VR, this title looks amazing, and has moments that will have you reaching to take your headset off in shock.
For my first foray into VR, I loved the Solus Project. Sure, there is no real combat here, but not every game needs a means to fight back. Sometimes, exploring and crafting go a very long way. If you have the PS VR, I highly recommend snagging this title.
