(Victorville)– The City of Victorville will host a tree and shrub pruning workshop from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 9 in Conference Room D at Victorville City Hall. This hands-on workshop is free and open to Victor Valley residents who are 18 and older. Children age 10 and older may attend with a parent or guardian. Registration is required and available online at https://tinyurl.com/ydadvflw or by phone at (760) 998-8702.
Vaughn Fosmo, a professional landscaper with over 20 years of horticulture experience, will teach this introduction to pruning basics. Workshop attendees will learn the art and science of good pruning, including how to prune young trees for good structure; the five types of pruning and when to use them; the reuse of prunings; and how to avoid the two worst pruning mistakes.
“We appreciate the generous donations of trees and shrubs from Fireman’s Nursery and Mark and Nellie’s Nursery that we will use during the pruning demonstrations,” said Donna McCormick, Water Conservation Supervisor for the City of Victorville. “Each attendee will leave the workshop ready to prune their own trees and shrubs with confidence and effectiveness.”
Refreshments will be served, and each attendee will receive a reusable canvas bag filled with landscaping, recycling and water conservation materials (while supplies last). For more information about water conservation, go to: www.victorvilleca.
