(Apple Valley) – Liberty Utilities (Apple Valley Ranchos Water) Corp. “Liberty Utilities Apple Valley” recently explained the value of water to 59 students from Lucerne Valley Middle School. The students, who were on a Mojave Environmental Education Consortium (MEEC) sponsored field trip, were given an overview of Liberty Utilities’ water system, a tour of the facilities and equipment at the Ottawa Road location, and educated on how they can conserve water. They then boarded their bus and visited the Mockingbird Booster Pump Station and one of Liberty’s well sites.
While at Liberty Utilities’ office, Carol Thomas-Keefer, Operations Manager, gave the group an overview of our water system and the work done by employees to reliably provide safe drinking water to people’s homes and businesses. She also shared details on the drought and explained how the students can conserve water. Jeremy Caudell, Water Quality Specialist, and Adam Ambrose, Production Supervisor, then treated the group to a tour of some of Liberty’s facilities where students were shown some of the equipment it takes to deliver water to customers’ homes. They toured one of Liberty’s reservoirs, a booster pump station and a well site and gained an appreciation of what it takes to serve water.
Students enjoyed the visit to Liberty Utilities and learning how to be good stewards of water by conserving this precious resource. The middle school students will be developing a marketing campaign based on what they learned.
The photos show the group at Mockingbird Booster Station and at Well 36 in Apple Valley. As you can see from the photos, a fun time was had by all.
