(Adelanto)– On Saturday April 21 from 8:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. the City of Adelanto, in coordination with AVCO Disposal Company, is hosting the second of four Free Dump days in 2018 for Adelanto residents to get rid of unwanted items—eliminating the need for a special trip to the landfill.
“We’ve had phenomenal participation by our residents each time we conduct a free dump day and I’m proud of the fact that our residents take pride in the appearance of our community,” said Mayor Rich Kerr. “There’s always more that can be done, which is why we continue to hold these events,” Kerr added.
The Free Dump Day is open to Adelanto residents who must provide proof of residence to participate. The only restricted item that residents cannot bring is hazardous waste. “They can bring mattresses, furniture, household trash, televisions, computer monitors, small tires (without the rims)—just about anything that would find its way into a trash can, the landfill or worse…a field in Adelanto,” said Mayor Kerr.
“We encourage our residents and businesses to remember and observe the 3R’s: Reduce waste before it starts, Reuseitems and materials as much as possible, and Recycle when you have reduced and reused,” said Roman De La Torre, Code Compliance Officer. The last Dump Day held in February saw residents bring in just over 84 tons of trash and debris (not including the weight of 116 mattresses and 12 pallets of E-waste) to Adelanto Stadium.
