(Apple Valley)– Liberty Utilities Apple Valley announces the kick-off of the Extreme Water Makeover for winners John and Christy Vaughn of Apple Valley.
Most of us have heard of the television show Extreme Home Makeover. For those of you who have not, it was a reality TV show series providing home improvements for families who have faced some sort of hardship. Liberty Utilities Apple Valley takes water conservation seriously and wants to partner with our customers. That’s the reason we took the Extreme Home Makeover concept, and added a water twist, to help a local family with high water consumption reduce and conserve.
The Vaughns will receive a complete water-efficiency makeover at their home. This includes an extensive water analysis to identify water inefficiencies both inside and outside. Based on those findings, the Vaughns will receive new indoor and outdoor water saving devices. Inside the home, this could include replacing appliances such as the dishwasher, washing machine and plumbing fixtures (toilets, faucets/aerators, showerheads) with WaterSense® models. Outside, an efficient irrigation system will be installed to combat outdoor inefficiencies.
All devices and appliances will be provided complimentary by the generous sponsors who have partnered with Liberty Utilities Apple Valley. Those sponsors include Niagara Conservation, Don Lager, Midway Home Solutions, Rafael Velazco, Contemporary Landscaping & Maintenance Inc., The Toro Company and Valley Soil Inc. to survey and outfit the Vaughn’s home to become water efficient.
It will be a welcome change for the Vaughns, who purchased a home with 2.5 bathrooms, a pool and a lush green lawn two years ago and have found it challenging to reduce their water use and water bills.
“I kept thinking of the opportunities we have to save water, but it gets overwhelming,” said Christy Vaughn. “With the help and support of Liberty Utilities Apple Valley and the Extreme Water Makeover, I know we can take control of our water usage.”
“Liberty Utilities Apple Valley is honored to work with the Vaughns to help transform their indoor and outdoor water use and is confident they will become shining examples of the benefits of switching to water-use efficient products and landscaping,” said Tony Penna, Vice President and General Manager for Liberty Utilities Apple Valley. “We are grateful to the many sponsors who have partnered with us to support this effort by providing thousands of dollars’ worth of appliances and resources for the makeover.”
The Vaughns are also looking forward to showing their neighbors how to save water.
“I want to be a leader in water conservation. I want bragging rights to a good-looking, water-efficient lawn and home,” said John Vaughn.
The 20 highest residential water users in Apple Valley were eligible to win a complete home water makeover, provided at no cost by Liberty Utility Apple Valley to help raise awareness of how efficient appliances and outdoor landscaping can dramatically reduce water use.
