The Crown is at Stake

By Staff Reports

(Victorville) –The Belmont Stakes will be held on Saturday, June 9 in Elmont, New York, and, while only twelve horses have been crowned with immortal fame, this year “the ends may Justify the means.” Justify, an American Thoroughbred, is attempting the coveted Triple Crown after having won the 2018 Kentucky Derby and the 2018 Preakness Stakes.

The Belmont is in Elmont, but you can watch it live and place your bet close to home at The Winner’s Circle at the San Bernardino County Fairgrounds. The Winner’s Circle is the High Desert’s only establishment offering year-round betting on live horse racing from around the world.

Born March 28, 2015, less than three months before the last Triple Crown winner, American Pharoah, Justify became the first horse since 1882 to win the Kentucky Derby without racing as a two year old.  Under the tutelage of famed trainer Bob Baffert and named a “Rising Star” by Thoroughbred Daily, Justify cut his chops just a few short months ago, winning a maiden special weight race in Santa Anita on February 18 before quickly rising through the ranks and winning the Santa Anita Derby on April 7.

The Belmont Stakes are the oldest of the three Triple Crown events, starting in 1867, and with a hiatus in 1911 and 1912, is celebrating its 150thanniversary in 2018.

The Winner’s Circle has over 70 television screens, drink and food specials, and free parking for patrons. General admission is $5 and access is limited to those age 18 and over.

The Winner’s Circle is located at 14800 Seventh Street Victorville, CA 92395. For information call, 760-951-RACE (760-951-7223).
