By Staff Reports

(Victorville)– The City of Victorville is seeking community input as it applies for a grant to fund the construction of new bike lanes.  The City has plans to build a network of bike lanes, and the grant money would assist this effort.  Bike enthusiasts and interested community members are invited to offer their ideas by attending an information session on July 19or via an online survey on the City’s website.

The information session is planned for July 19 at 6 Conference Room D at Victorville City Hall located at 14343 Civic Dr.  The survey can be accessed on the City’s website at victorvilleca.govthrough July 24.  Participants will be asked about their bicycling needs and to help the City prioritize where bike lanes are most needed.  Participation is free and open to the public.

“We hope to see many people offering their input at the public meeting on July 19and through the online survey,” said Victorville Mayor Gloria Garcia.  “Community input is critical to the success of our grant application, and it will help the City better meet the needs of our community.”

The City of Victorville’s plan to build bike lanes is part of its “Complete Streets” design concept that enables safe travel on roadways by all users, including motorized vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians.  As a result, the City plans to widen streets, add bikes lanes, and install sidewalks and ADA-compliant ramping in certain areas.
