Caltrans Halts Planned Lane Closures for Labor Day Weekend

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)–The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is announcing a moratorium on planned lane closures for the Labor Day weekend.  The moratorium will take place from Friday, August 31, at 6:00 a.m. to Tuesday, September 4, at 6:00 p.m.

Be advised that there may be local lane closures for parades or other events.  Lanes are also subject to closure due to emergency situations or accidents.

Motorists should know before they go!  Check road conditions on the Caltrans Quickmap at http://quickmap.dot.ca.gov/,  You should also check weather conditions due to pop up monsoons and possible strong winds in mountain and desert locations at https://www.weather.gov/.

Be advised that in the event of storm activity that State Route’s 74, 243 (Idyllwild region) and 38 (Forest Falls region) are subject to closure without notice due to debris flows as the result of recent wildfires.  Be prepared and do not travel during storm events.

Expect delays on Friday for outbound traffic and on Sunday and Monday for inbound traffic on Interstate 10 between Banning and Palm Springs and also on Interstate 15 (I-15) in the Cajon Pass, Barstow, Baker and Stateline.  Be advised that the new California Department of Agricultural Inspection Station is now open on southbound I-15 at the Nevada state line and traffic queues will be lengthy throughout the weekend based on traffic volumes.  Try and travel during off peak hours to make your trip more enjoyable.
