(Victor Valley)– In recognition of October being Crime Prevention Month, the Citizens for Safer Communities Coalition is offering the NRA’s Refuse To Be A Victim® seminar on Saturday October 20 from 9:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Through classroom instruction on a variety of crime prevention strategies, the program teaches tips and techniques a person would need to be alerted to dangerous situations and to avoid becoming a victim.
“In today’s changing world, this type of valuable information is extremely beneficial and can even save a life,” said course instructor Connie Amelang. Although this is an NRA (National Rifle Association) course, it is NOT a firearms course.
Normally held at a cost of $50 per person, the Citizens for SaferCommunities Coalition will be sponsoring this course at a reduced price of $5 per person, which covers the costs of the manual that each student receives. The seminar will be conducted by a Certified NRA Instructor, and the attendees will receive an official NRA Certificate after attending the class.
Refuse To Be A Victim® was developed by the National Rifle Association in 1993 in response to nationwide requests for crime prevention seminars. The program has been endorsed by members of the law enforcement community nationwide. The program is appropriate for teenagers and up.
Some of the topics to be covered include:
- Psychology of Criminal Predators
- Automobile Security
- Out-Of-Town Travel Security
- Technological Security
- Personal Protection Devices
- Home Security
- Physical and Workplace Security
- Keeping your children safe
“Registration is limited to the first 50 people who must register and pay in advance,” said Amelang. “Registrations will not be taken at the door because we have to order the manuals in advance.”
The Refuse To Be A Victim® seminar will be held in Room 100 at the Choice Medical Group Suite in the Sunview Plaza located at 13010 Hesperia Road, Victorville.
