(Hesperia)–Beginning in fall 2018, the Hesperia Recreation and Park District, Southern California Edison and SASCO will be working together to replace inefficient, high-pressure sodium (HPS) streetlights throughout Hesperia. The current HPS fixtures will be removed and replaced with light-emitting diode (LED) fixtures through Southern California Edison’s LS-1 Option E program. The new LED fixtures will be energy efficient, have a long life span and produce a better quality of light than the HPS fixtures. The LED fixtures will cast a light color that will be a cooler, white light, under which it will be easier to see true colors. The LED fixtures will create a more even pool of light across the ground or roadway, providing better visible light for residents in our District.
You may notice one of the contractor’s crews in your neighborhood as they work to complete the project. Crews will be working Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to update the approximate 1,500 street lights within the District’s boundaries. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation with project crews during this time and look forward to a more energy efficient future!
