Christmas Festivities Kick Off The Season

(Victor Valley)–Christmas time is almost here, and with the season comes local festivities. There are a number of holiday events taking place in the High Desert, starting this weekend.

Victorville Christmas Parade Saturday, Dec. 1

This year’s annual Victorville Christmas Parade features Jolly old St. Nick and Mrs. Claus in the Wells Fargo Coach along with floats, antique cars and hot rods, marching bands, marching groups and horseback riders from across the valley. The parade runs along Seventh Street from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Dec. 1.

Victorville Festival of Lights Saturday, Dec. 1

The City of Victorville will kick off the holiday season with its annual Festival of Lights Christmas and Tree Lighting Ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 1, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Victorville City Hall, 14343 Civic Dr. The free event will feature horse-drawn carriage rides, hot cocoa and cookies, and live entertainment. Take photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, or create festive Christmas art and crafts to give as gifts this holiday season.

Silver Lakes tree lighting Saturday, Dec. 1

Silver Lakes will hold a Christmas tree lighting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Clubhouse Ballroom. The event will include choirs, dancers, singers and Santa, along with cookies and apple cider. For information call (760) 952-3017.

Apple Valley tree lighting Tuesday, Dec. 4

Join the Town of Apple Valley light up their 30-foot tree of lights 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4. The Annual Tree Lighting is a family friendly event featuring information, giveaways, live entertainment and falling snow. Be sure to bring your own camera for a picture with Santa. Admission and parking are free. Civic Center Park and Town Hall, 14955 Dale Evans Parkway in Apple Valley.

Hesperia tree lighting Thursday, Dec. 6  

Kick off the Christmas season and head down to the Hesperia Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony 5 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 6 at Hesperia Civic Plaza Park. Bring your letters to Santa to drop in his special mailbox and bring your camera to take photos with Santa. consider donating an unwrapped toy to Spark of Love.
