(Victor Valley)— Taylion High Desert Academy (THDA) has kicked off its annual Holiday Food Drive, as the school sets a goal to feed 20 High Desert families in need of a holiday meal.
“Our students and staff have a passion to give back to the community,” said THDA Principal Evelyn Sandoval. “With our annual food drive, we aim to give to our Taylion families in need. Our students and their families. The need is evident, as every year we see the number of students requesting assistance rise. So this year, we have set the goal at an unprecedented 20 families to serve.”
Donations are being accepted at both the Adelanto and Victorville THDA locations until December 7th. Donations will then being divided into gift boxes. The goal is to include enough food to serve a family a complete holiday meal with each box. Gift boxes will be delivered to families in December by THDA staff members, before the school goes on Winter Break.
Items in need include: can openers, canned vegetables, chicken broth, chicken stock, canned gravy, canned cranberry sauce, boxed potatoes, cookie mix, pie crust, pie filling, boxed stuffing, boxed biscuit/cornbread mix, cake mix, juices, boxes, and main courses (turkey, chicken, ham, etc).
