City of Victorville Winter Watering Hours Now in Effect

By Staff Reports

(Victorville)– Now that winter weather has arrived, the Victorville Water District is reminding customers to adjust their automated sprinklers to water between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  The Victorville Water District’sWinter Watering Hours are now in effect through May 31.  During this period, sprinkler watering is permitted only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.  However, drip irrigation and/or hand watering with a hose nozzle is allowed at any time.

WINTER SEASON: OCTOBER-MAY

USE SPRINKLERS ONLY BETWEEN 9 AM AND 3 PM

In addition, the Water District is reminding customers that year-round watering day schedules are still in effect:

ADDRESSES ENDING WITH: 0, 2, 4, 6, OR 8

WATERING DAYS: TUESDAY, THURSDAY, AND SATURDAY

ADDRESSES ENDING WITH: 1, 3, 5, 7, OR 9

WATERING DAYS: WEDNESDAY, FRIDAY, AND SUNDAY

During the winter, water that escapes onto sidewalks or roads at night can become frozen and present a slipping hazard.   This is why the Winter Watering Hours are set for daylight hours.

The Victorville Water District is also encouraging customers to reduce landscape irrigation at this time.  During the winter, most plants slow their growth significantly.  The plants simply do not need as much water during the winter months.  Reducing irrigation watering during the winter will save customers money, prevent runoff, and reduce ice hazards.  Customers are also reminded to turn their irrigation timers to “OFF” whenever rain or high winds are forecast.

City of Victorville Water Conservation Staff are available to assist customers with reprogramming their automated water timers.   Free in-home and landscape water audits are also available.
