(Apple Valley)– From a part-time Maintenance Aide to a full-time Level 2 Maintenance Worker, Stephanie Vargas has proven to be a valuable member of Apple Valley’s Public Works team. In addition to her department tasks, Stephanie provides assistance to the Grounds Division on irrigation issues and special events throughout town. Stephanie holds certifications with the International Municipal Signal Association for Traffic Signal Maintenance Technician, Signs and Markings and Work Zone Safety.
“Stephanie has shown dedication to the Public Works Department by overseeing that tasks are completed in a timely manner,” said Public Works Supervisor Mike Molinari. “She assists multiple departments daily and does so with a smile on her face. We can always count on her and her contagious laugh.”
After applying for the part-time Maintenance Aide position in 2006, Stephanie was promoted the same year to a full-time Level 1 Maintenance Worker. Today, as a Level 2 Maintenance Worker in the Streets Division, Stephanie operates the Town street sweeper and provides training to other staff on obtaining their Class B license.
“I enjoy being a part of Apple-Valley’s clean-up crew,” said Vargas. “This town has so many interesting events and activities and it is important to maintain that quality of life. By keeping our roads clean of debris, we can keep our residents safe and coming back.”
Stephanie will be recognized as the Employee of the Quarter at the December 11 Town Council Meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Nominations for Employee of the Quarter are submitted by peers or management and honorees are selected by a committee.
