City of Hesperia Notice of Vacancy – Commissions & Committees

(Hesperia)– The City of Hesperia is currently seeking interested individuals from the community to serve on the following commission/committees: Planning Commission, City Council Advisory Committee and Public Safety Advisory Committee.

Planning Commission–There are three (3) commissioner vacancies with term expirations of January 2019.

The Planning Commission is responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to the City Council regarding the General Plan, the Development Code and approving land subdivisions. It promotes the coordination of local plans and programs with other public agencies.

Commissioners receive a stipend of $100 per meeting attended. Applicants must reside within the City of Hesperia or sphere of influence. Planning Commission members are required to file Form 700 Conflict of Interest Statements with the Fair Political Practices Commission.

City Council Advisory Committee– There is three (3) committee member vacancies with term expirations of January 2019.

The City Council Advisory Committee is an advisory resource to the City Council. At the discretion of the City Council, the Advisory Committee shall review the Capital Improvement Project Plan (CIP) including the recommendation of streets on the annual road paving list, water and sewer capital expenditures, traffic flow, and provides recommendations to the Council regarding the use of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds and other applicable financing programs.

Committee members receive no stipend for participation and must reside within the City.

Public Safety Advisory Committee– There is three (3) committee member vacancies with term expirations of January 2019.

The Public Safety Advisory Committee is an advisory resource to the City Council. At the discretion of the City Council, the Committee shall review, research and provide recommendations on any issue, program, goal or item as assigned by the Council. Functional areas include review of public safety services including contract performance, opportunities for joint programs with other local public agencies, opportunities for public / private partnerships that benefit the City, and emergency preparedness.

Committee members receive no stipend for participation and must reside within the City.

Application Process/Deadline– Individuals interested in serving on either a commission or committee are encouraged to complete an application form which may be obtained in person from the City Clerk’s Office or from the City’s website. Completed applications are due no later than Wednesday, January 2, 2019.
