(Apple Valley)– The 8th annual Heart Games, a Healthy Apple Valley event, will bring together coworkers, neighbors and friends to support a great cause, their own health! Teams of three to five participants will play in a decathlon-themed multi-event race for points by uncovering clues, solving puzzles and completing activity-based challenges.
“Last year brought in 18 teams and more than 80 participants,” said Recreation Manager Ralph Wright. “The event provides an opportunity for families and individuals looking for a healthy and fun recreational challenge.”
Teams are encouraged to dress-up for a chance to win a prize as the “best dressed team.” All checkpoints will be child and senior-friendly with participants solving problems as well as maintaining a low-impact workout. Top contenders will earn prizes. All participants will receive a medal for finishing the event.
“We encourage more Apple Valley businesses to put together corporate teams or sponsor healthy events like the Heart Games,” said Mayor Larry Cusack. “This event, along with other Healthy Apple Valley events, encourages residents to stay in shape and get the most out of the Town’s beautiful parks.”
Teams must register and complete a waiver by Feb. 7 to compete in the event held on Feb. 23 from 8:30 a.m. to noon. at Civic Center Park located at 14999 Dale Evans Pkwy. Registration is $10 per person and teams may begin checking in at 8:00 a.m.
