(Victorville)– Victorville City Hall will be the host location for Delta Sigma Theta’s Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration on Monday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. As a result, Civic Drive will be closed from Seneca Drive to Ramona Avenue from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
The event will begin at 10 a.m. with the annual peace march at the corner of Civic Drive and Seneca Road. The peace march will end at the corner of Civic Drive and Ramona Avenue.
A ceremony hosted by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority will follow the peace march. During this ceremony, the City of Victorville will recognize the winner of its annual Civil Rights Memorial Essay Contest and local student, Penelope Trylch.
Penelope will read her winning essay; and the City will unveil a bronze plaque honoring the subject of Penelope’s essay, Harriet Tubman.
Detours will be in place. Motorists are advised to obey all posted traffic signs and devices, and to use caution when traveling in the vicinity of this road closure.
Motorists should plan alternate routes for their travel during this road closure and allow additional time for their commute.
