(Adelanto)– City Manager Jessie Flores announced two new hires this afternoon: Kathi Bishop, who will head up grant writing for the City on a part-time basis and Michelle Van Der Linden, the new, full-time Communications Advisor. “I am very pleased to have both Kathi and Michelle onboard,” said City Manager Flores. “Each of them bring a wealth of knowledge from their vast experience working in government and I know they will excel within their positions and contribute to the community.”
Bishop brings more than 30 years of government service to the City of Adelanto. She has worked with the state legislature, San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors, local law enforcement, several non-profit organizations, as well as private industry. “Seeking out and securing grants is a passion of mine,” said Bishop. Through my work, I have the opportunity to bolster a variety of community priorities including road improvements, public safety, and the creation of new programs. Finding grant funding improves the quality of life within a community without burdening the taxpayer,” stated Bishop.
Van Der Linden brings more than 20 years of communications experience between the military, local and county government, as well as a school district, and most recently, the Orange County District Attorney’s Office. “I am both excited and thankful for the opportunity to serve the City of Adelanto,” said Van Der Linden. “I look forward to working with the media in this area and beyond in an effort to share the great news about how the City is moving forward and creating new opportunities for residents, members of the business community, and visitors of the City.”
