(Victorville)– The City of Victorville in collaboration with the Mojave Water Agency will host the workshop, Pruning Southern California Trees and Shrubs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 23 in Conference Room D at Victorville City Hall, located at 14343 Civic Dr. This hands-on workshop is free and open to Victor Valley residents who are 18 and older. Children from 12 to 17 years old may attend the workshop with a parent or guardian. Workshop attendees will learn the art and science of good pruning, including the basics of pruning evergreen and deciduous trees and shrubs; how to prune young trees for good structure; the difference between tree trimming and pruning; the reuse of prunings as an effective mulch resource; and the importance of pruning in the dormant season.
“We appreciate the generous shrub and tree donations received from Nellie’s Nursery & Landscape that we will use during the pruning demonstrations,” said Donna McCormick, Water Conservation Supervisor for the City of Victorville. “Each attendee will leave the workshop with the basic knowledge to keep their landscaping healthy, functional and looking great!”
Raffle prizes during the workshop include: pruning shears, telescoping pruning tools, gloves, knee foam pads and much more! Raffle winners must attend the workshop and be present at the time raffle winner names are selected to be eligible to win.
Refreshments will be served and each attendee will receive a reusable shopping canvas bag filled with landscaping, recycling and water conservation materials (while supplies last).
