(Victor Valley)– Scout Comics has another amazing title on its hands, this time in the form of the dark series, Wuflborne.

Created and drawn by Brian Middleton, the book followers Wulfborne the adventurer, who is on a journey that might mean his doom. “Come to me and I will heal your broken heart,”, these are the words Wulfborne hears from his lost love, Luna. So he has journeyed to the underworld to find the source of this voice, as he cannot continue the way he is. His travels puts him against monsters and creatures, armed with his sword, his wits and his determination. He even receives warning that this voice is not what it seems, but he continues to move forward, regardless of the danger ahead.

The greyscale artwork is perfect for this tale. Middleton’s art is full of raw emotion and fear, something that incapsulates this journey. The story flows great, leading us to wonder what happens next on this tale. I love the simplicity of it all, as it resonates within us all. We have all lost people in our lives, we would all follow a sirens call to a quick fix to a broken heart. We would all be walking the same path as Wulfborne, and that’s what makes us care about him.

I loved the first issue, this book is going places: that place might not be so nice, but I am on board for the ride.
