(Victorville)– Growing the San Bernardino County Fair’s attendance and year-round events in each of the five years since his arrival, General Manager Geoff Hinds is pursuing a new opportunity, taking over as chief executive of the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center in Oregon.
Among a plethora of achievements while at the helm, Hinds increased Fair attendance every year, brought in high caliber entertainment, created a VIP experience and increased the number and size of events with 126 unique contracts in 2018 and more planned for 2019.
“The SBC Fair is an institution in our communities and attendance has grown every year since Geoff took the helm. I’m sorry to see him go, but the legacy he’s built for further growth and success is something we are very grateful for.” – Joe Zuccaro, Vice President of SBC Fair Board of Directors.
More than four times larger than the SBC Fair property, the Deschutes County Fairgrounds and Expo Center is the largest fairgrounds in Oregon. With a larger budget to work with, Hinds was chosen in large part based on his proven ability to draw in new events on a year-round basis. He will begin his new position a few weeks after the 73rd Annual SBC Fair ends on June 3. The SBC Fair Board of Directors has created a recruitment package that will be published on May 15.
“The SBC Fair team has truly become family during my time in the High Desert, and this has become home.” Hinds said. “With the help of a highly capable team, we have been able to achieve increased levels of success each and every year, and taken on many exciting projects, and overcome challenges that once seemed insurmountable.”
Hinds hopes his last SBC Fair will again break records for attendance with more big names such as Skid Row and P.O.D. set to headline the concert series and new events such as Bull Riding, camel rides, a blacksmith show, brand new food items and carnival rides.
“We have overcome many challenges and difficulties, but the support of the Board of Directors, and each member of the team that makes up SBC Fair has been tremendous and unwavering and I am proud to share so many achievements and success with them, “ added Hinds. “This organization, and the people who are a part of both the Fair and this community will always remain an important part of my life”
The year’s SBC Fair with the theme of “Create Memories,” will run from May 25 – June 3. Presale tickets are on sale now. Go to www.sbcfair.com for more information or call (760) 951-2200.
