(Victorville)– Drivers competing in the Great Race will cruise into Victorville for a lunch stop at the Route 66 Museum in Old Town Victorville this Saturday, June 22. As a result, 6th Street between D and C Streets and the alley behind the Route 66 Museum will be closed for this event.
These road closures will be in effect from approximately 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Motorists will be required to take alternate routes.
Members of the public are invited to stop by The Route 66 Museum to see the vintage cars being driven in the Great Race. The Kick Off is planned for 11 a.m., and the first vintage car is expected to arrive at 12 p.m. The last competitor is expected to leave at 3 p.m.
Spectator parking is available at the Victor Valley Transportation Center across from the Route 66 Museum on D Street. Spectators are advised to use the designated crosswalks to cross D Street.
Motorists are asked to use extra caution when traveling in Old Town this Saturday as pedestrian traffic is expected to be greater than normal.
