CSUSB Ranked Top 10 in Awarding Degrees to Hispanics

(Victor Valley)– Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education magazine has once again named Cal State San Bernardino among the top universities in the nation in awarding bachelor’s and master’s degrees to Hispanics.

The rankings listed CSUSB as 21st in the nation in awarding bachelor’s degrees to Hispanics and 55th in awarding master’s degrees to Hispanics, as reported in the magazine’s August/September 2019 edition in data compiled by the U.S. Department of Education. The rankings mark the 17th year the magazine has recognized Cal State San Bernardino as one of the top universities for Hispanics.

In individual categories, CSUSB was ranked sixth in awarding degrees by major in business administration management and operations degrees to Hispanics.

“Once again, we’re honored to be named among the top colleges and universities serving Hispanic students,” said CSUSB President Tomás D. Morales. “As a Hispanic-Serving Institution, I am especially proud of our team of faculty, staff and administrators who are committed to the academic and future success of our students, many of them first-generation students.”

The magazine lists institutions of higher education that have outstanding records in honors and ovations among Hispanic students. The list is derived from the U.S. Department of Education’s Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System program.

The federal government has recognized CSUSB as a Hispanic-Serving Institution, which is defined as a nonprofit college, university or system/district that has at least a 25 percent Hispanic full-time equivalent enrollment. There are more than 250 Hispanic-Serving Institutions in the United States.
