Halloween ComicFest at Linebreakers Celebrated Halloween, Comic Books, and More

By Staff Reports

(Victorville) On Saturday, October 26th, hundreds of High Desert residents visited Linebreakers in Victorville for their annual Halloween ComicFest event.

The event boasted giveaways, including special edition comic books created for ComicFest, costume contests, kids crafts, candy, and more. Four local artists were also in attendance: Cesar Flores, Mat Hurtado, Eric Rivera, and Joshua Cassara. Cassara is currently working on Marvel Comic’s X-Force, with several published books from Marvel, Titan Comics, and more. Artists were sketching and signing, creating one of a kind works for art for the fans in attendance.

“It was so much fun,” said thirteen-year-old Emily, who received an original sketch by Joshua Cassara. “I got some cool free comic books. Seeing the artists draw on my comic book was so cool!”

Halloween ComicFest (HCF) is the comic book industry’s premier fall event – a single day when participating comic book specialty shops across North America and around the world give away specially published comic books absolutely free.

“It was great to interact with such an awesome crowd,” said Victorville resident Eddie Aguirre, who was dressed up as the Knightmare version of Batman from the film, Batman V Superman. “The turnout was amazing. It was fun seeing friends in this community and meeting new ones. LineBreakers had it all organized, so everyone had a fun day.”

The largest comic book shop in the High Desert, Linebreakers, is also the longest-running game store in the community. It has been a mainstay in downtown Victorville for years, carrying a variety of products ranging from comic books, graphic novels, action figures, tabletop gaming, and more. At Linebreakers, you can learn a new hobby, create a pull list for your monthly comic book subscriptions, find the perfect pop culture gift, and more.

“It was amazing to see the community come out to celebrate Halloween, comic books, and more,” said David McKean, Owner of Linebreakers. “Thank you to everyone who attended, to our fantastic artists, and volunteers- you made the day one to remember!”
