MWA Opens Deep Creek Hydroelectric Project

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– The Mojave Water Agency unveiled its new Deep Creek Hydroelectric Project that uses a turbine to generate electricity from aqueduct water flowing from a higher elevation.

The water is piped from the California Aqueduct and replenishes the local groundwater basin along the Mojave River. This project will save millions of dollars in electricity costs over the next 30 years and has brought MWA close to attaining a net neutral status in energy consumption.
