(Victor Valley)– In January, the San Bernardino County Fire Protection District, in cooperation with CAL FIRE and San Bernardino County Public Works, offered wood chipping services to the community of Crestline.
With the help of the San Bernardino County Inmate Hand Crew and CAL FIRE crews, Crestline residents were able to clear more debris than the crews have ever cleared in a single day. In total, the crews cleared nearly 445,000 pounds of wood chipped material. This effort was enough to fill 26 dump trucks with approximately 178 cubic yards of chipped material. In total, the crews contributed roughly 213 personnel hours to the project. The holiday winter storms blocked many driveways and access roads with broken trees, branches and other debris. In an effort to bolster safety in these areas, these agencies assisted residents in cleaning up their community.
