(Apple Valley)– Human Resources Analyst, Kristine Shoup has been selected as the Town of Apple Valley’s Employee of the Quarter for the 1st quarter of 2020.
“One year ago, we discovered our health insurance plan was in trouble and not paying bills for our employees,” said Town Manager Doug Robertson. “Kristine assisted our office in evaluating options and played a key role in the emergency measures put in place to continue coverage for the affected employees. She inspires confidence in her coworkers when it comes to personnel matters in general but especially in benefits management, a responsibility that is new to her in just the last eight months.”
Hired in 2005, Kristine began her role as a seasonal Recreation Leader while attending high school. After graduating, Shoup applied for a Senior Office Assistant position in the Human Resources Department. Throughout her 15-year career with the Town, Kristine has held multiple duties in Human Resources including HR Assistant and Administrative Analyst.
Today, as the HR Analyst, Kristine oversees the recruitment and benefit programs for Town staff and has recently taken on additional responsibilities training her Office Assistant, Shelby Doran. Together, the two have brought new positive programs to the Human Resources Department and staff.
“Kristine has made a huge impact on our staff during this insurance transition,” said Mayor Scott Nassif. “She is an excellent leader who takes responsibility by ensuring everyone is knowledgeable about their benefit programs and plays a key part in our hiring process. We are lucky to have her.”
Kristine recently completed her master’s degree program in Organizational Leadership through Bradman University in August 2018. She lives in Apple Valley with her husband Andy Shoup, their son Oliver and daughter Ava.
“We are the employee’s first contact when they walk through our doors and that can really have an impact,” said Shoup. “I enjoy helping people through the hiring process and watching them reach their goals. I’ve spent most of my adult life here and starting as a Recreation Leader was my first job ever. I love this town and graduated from Apple Valley High School, go Sun Devils!”
Kristine was recognized as the Employee of the Quarter at the Feb. 11 Town Council Meeting.
Nominations for Employee of the Quarter are submitted by peers or management and honorees are selected by a committee.
