(Victor Valley)– Some 3,500 students from around the High Desert participated in the sixth annual “Made in the High Desert” event Thursday. The event connected high school students with local manufacturers and aerospace firms offering careers in well-paying jobs. It’s also an opportunity for manufacturers, aerospace firms, teachers and school administrators to discuss how to link classroom lessons with job skills that are in high demand.

“During the past six years, nearly 14,000 local students have attended these events,” said Supervisor Lovingood, who co-founded the event and partnership with Pathways2Success. “Local manufacturers have close to 1,000 well-paying jobs. So with the locally available technical training programs, our students have some outstanding career pathways.”
