(Victor Valley)– Tuesday’s announcement by the County that hair salons and barbershops can reopen was great news for shaggy and gray-rooted county residents. And here’s some great news for salon and barbershop owners: You are eligible for cash grants under the County’s COVID-Compliant Business Partnership Program!
The County recognizes that the business model for many salons and barbershops has them rent out space to stylists, so those shops technically have zero employees. That’s why the County carved out a special place for the owners of these businesses in the COVID-Compliant program. This is important because shops that cut, style, and color hair have to comply with more safety requirements than other businesses under the State’s rules, https://covid19.ca.gov/pdf/guidance-hair-salons.pdf. The County’s funding support of up to $2,500 for eligible businesses are intended to fund COVID-compliant modifications and supplies. Stylists who rent space and don’t own a shop are not eligible for the program.
So far, more than 2,400 businesses have applied to be COVID-compliant partners and more than 1,200 have been approved for funding. More than 50 businesses not eligible for funding have signed up so they can show their customers they are committed to keeping San Bernardino County safe and open for business.
