Squash4Friends Farm Needs Volunteers

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– Squash4Friends is a nonprofit farm in Apple Valley that raises fresh produce for the needy in the High Desert. Now Squash4Friends needs volunteers to help at the farm on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

On a parcel of land, one man, retired Sergeant Jim Hill of the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office, began a quest in 2009 to feed the community’s less fortunate completely free of charge. The farm provides healthy and fresh nutrition to anyone or any agency expressing a need. Jim’s sincere efforts won him recognition as a nominee for the Victorville Daily Press’s 2010 Person of Year Award and executive director of the runner up position in the ‘Volunteer Organization/Non-Profit’ category of the 2012 Best of the Desert voting. However Jim would much prefer winning a continuing greater number of volunteers and benefactors.
