Kodak to produce pharmaceuticals with help of U.S. loan

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– Eastman Kodak Co. has won a $765 million government loan under the Defense Production Act to transform Kodak into a pharmaceutical company that can help produce essential medicines in the United States.

“We will bring our pharmaceutical and medical supply chains home — we’re going to bring them home where they belong — and we will end reliance on China,” President Trump said.

With this loan, the company can build the capacity to produce essential medicines that have lapsed into a chronic national shortage. Once fully operational, Kodak will have the capacity to produce 25% of the generic active pharmaceutical ingredients necessary for all non-biologic and non-antibacterial pharmaceuticals used in the United States.
