Beware of COVID-19 antibody scams

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– Scam predators are attempting to gain your personal, medical and financial information by advertising false antibody tests that show if a person has already had COVID-19. Do not let this happen to you! Reports of this scam indicate that the scam predator may reach out to you through an automatic call (robocall), text or email and direct you to a site that looks like a medical supply company or medical clinic selling antibody test kits. These messages may state that you have been infected and then request your personal information! Do not click the links or provide any information.

  • Talk to your doctor if you want to get an antibody test so he/she can help you determine if the test is covered by your insurance and direct you to a legitimate clinic.
  • Search any products offered and the company for reviews and complaints through the Better Business Bureau (BBB) at https://www.bbb.org.
  • Never share your personal, medical or financial information with strangers.
  • Only make purchases with people and companies you trust.

If you think you may be a victim of a scam, contact San Bernardino County Adult Protective Services at 1 (877) 565‑2020, or your local police department.
