September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month

By Staff Reports

(Victor Valley)– September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. In the United States, suicide is the second leading cause of death for people ages 10-34 and the fourth leading cause of death for people ages 35-54. Sadly, more than half of Americans have reported that COVID-19 has had a negative impact on their mental health. During difficult times, please remember that you are not alone and that it’s okay to reach out for help.

Our counties have outstanding mental health resources available:
San Bernardino County
Inyo County
Mono County

For our Veterans, mental wounds are just as difficult to heal as physical wounds – and treating them is just as important. The VA is currently providing vital telehealth therapy (phone or video) options for Veterans and military families. To learn more, please visit: https://www.mentalhealth.va.gov/

Additionally, The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) offers free, confidential crisis counseling 24/7 each day of the year, and you don’t have to be in crisis to call.
