Kyle Godfrey Named AVHS Head Football Coach

By Staff Reports

(Apple Valley)– We are excited to announce that the Sundevil Football program will welcome Kyle Godfrey as the new head coach. Mr. Rohrbaugh will no longer be the head football coach for personal reasons.

Coach Kyle Godfrey graduated from Apple Valley High School in 2003. As a student athlete Kyle lettered in Football, Track and Basketball. After high school graduation, he attended the University of Redlands where he was part of 2 Football Conference Championship teams.  Upon graduating from Redlands, Kyle returned to his high school Alma Mater to teach History. This is where his career as a coach began. In the 13 years that Coach Godfrey has been at AVHS he has been both the head coach of Varsity Track and Field and Varsity Girls’ Basketball.  For nine years Kyle has been instrumental in our football program in various coaching positions.  He spent time as our Head Freshman coach where he led them to a 18-2 record. At the Varsity level, Coach Godfey has been an Assistant and also been the Offensive Coordinator. His most important role however, is that as a husband to a loving and supportive wife and a father to three amazing and busy children.

Coach Godfrey is a perfect example of what being a Sundevil means. We are all anxiously awaiting the excitement of Friday night lights!
